How to Get Your Business on Google Maps in Sri Lanka

By Asantha Yagika Silva · 2026-09-28 · 5 min read

A step by step guide to claiming and optimising your Google Business Profile so nearby customers can find, call and visit your business.

When someone nearby searches for a salon, a restaurant or a repair shop, Google shows a map with a short list of businesses first. A complete Google Business Profile is how you earn a place in that list, and it is free.

Claim and verify your profile

Search for your business name on Google Maps. If it already exists, claim it. If not, add it as a new business. Google will ask you to verify ownership, usually by a code or a short video, so use the real business address and phone number.

Fill in every detail

Photos and reviews matter

Upload real photos of your shopfront, team, products and finished work. Profiles with fresh photos look active and trustworthy. Ask happy customers for a review right after you deliver good service, and reply to every review politely, including the critical ones.

Keep your details consistent

Your business name, address and phone number should match on your website, social pages and directory listings. Inconsistent details confuse both customers and search engines.

Connect it to your website

A fast, mobile friendly website with your address, hours and a clear contact button gives people a reason to choose you after they find you on the map. Add a Google Map to your contact page and link to your profile.
